The Belfield Resource Centre is the main archive for Scout Heritage NSW and has been operating for 25 years. It contains a wealth of Scouting history, cared for by a small team of dedicated volunteers. All items have been donated.
Team Belfield welcomes visitors, especially ones donating items to the state collection. The team is proud to show special items including badges, uniforms, awards, camp blankets and old camping equipment, books, magazines, press clippings, photo albums, personal diaries – the array of memorabilia is impressive and irreplaceable.
Scout Heritage NSW has a display trailer and marquee available to showcase Scouting history at Group meetings and anniversaries, and at District, Region and State events.
A new research area has recently opened at the back of the building. Belfield's volunteers are available to assist Leaders and Groups research their local history.
Volunteers with skills and an interest in Scouting history are always welcome to join Team Belfield – jobs are as diverse as cataloguing and research to stacking shelves and grounds maintenance.
Far too much of this precious heritage has been lost to garage sales and landfill. So please remember Scout Heritage NSW in your estate planning and discuss your intentions with the family. We can collect items if transport to Belfield presents a problem.
